Director Ryan Stopera’s poetic short-film Motherlands is an honorific meditation on the struggles, beauty, and grace of Asian-American motherhood. The score for the film was written and recorded on Sunday September 26th, 2021 in the basement of the childhood home of Stopera. The acoustic piano (the only instrument used in the creation of this material) resonates in the rooms of the director’s own childhood memories, both in physical space and spiritual remembrance.
